Adobe Boosts name recognition
Adobe targets online audience with a free albeit cut down version of its ever popular photo editing suite Photoshop. Photoshop Express was launched this week as a beta test version for the public to download from their website www.photoshop.com/express where all user comments will be taken into account to better plan for future upgrades. Photoshop Express is being hailed as an easy to use version of its big brother, which has always found a solid following with graphic designers and other trained professionals. Express will be a web based program in order to allow use by anyone with any computer, operating system and web browser, thus putting to bed any compatibility issues that have plagued other photo editing programmes. Once registered, subscribers will be able access their accounts from a host of different computers. It seems that Web-based software has become increasingly popular in the last few years and Photoshop’s creators realising the need to keep up with current trends. Express has, however, joined the online photo-management sector many years after companies such as Google and Microsoft who offer similar services and adobe’s new application has some catching up to do Providing Express as a free package is a marketing strategy to create an opening for upgrades to its more professional software such as boxed products like Photoshop Elements or to a subscribed version of Express. www.greatlogodesign.co.uk
